Heroes of Humanity
December 2006 - February 2007

This first phase of the initiative is a concerted nationwide effort involving individuals and communities in 50 cities across the country. Each city will honor people who exemplify a dedication to human welfare through the Sri Sri Award for Uplifting Human Values. They will also engage youth in human-values education and community service with the Kids for Kids program. These programs will culminate in January and February 2007 at an inspiring event in each city entitled Heroes of Humanity.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Award for Uplifting Human Values
The award recognizes individuals or organizations in every community who embody the values of integrity, compassion and non-violence in their dedication and service to humanity. Recipients of the award will be honored at their city’s Heroes of Humanity event.

Kids for Kids/Teens for Teens Program
Hundreds of classrooms will participate in a program designed to inspire youth of all ages to contemplate and experience values such as generosity, enthusiasm and compassion. For 30 days, students will perform random acts of kindness at home and at school, and reflect on the significance of human values through writing and art.
